Graduation Requirements
A student’s progress is checked by practical and written exams at the completion of each unit of subject matter. All grades are cumulative. These grades are recorded on progress and achievement records which are computed monthly.
Exams are given monthly and are marked as followed:
|
A |
90%-100% |
|
B |
80%-89% |
|
C |
70%-79% |
|
D |
65%-69% |
|
F |
0%-64% |
Students receiving less than a C will be given the opportunity to retake that chapter test after completing the theory over. The better of the two grades will be place in the student’s permanent file. Unless this happens in more than 20% of the students course work load there will be no effect on the student’s satisfactory progress. Exams and tests are given periodically on the theory part of the course, and graded as stated above. A passing grade / Satisfactory Progress is considered to be an average of at least 70% or a C. Clinical work is also graded in the same manner. We base these marks on the passing grades of the New York State Board Examinations. A student who falls short of these standards will be placed on probation for a 30 day period and given remedial assistance. The student will be considered to be making satisfactory progress, if at the end of this 30 day period their grade average is at least 70% or a C. If their grade average has not increased to 70% or a C the student will be dismissed. Satisfactory progress is necessary to maintain financial aid eligibility.
Attendance / Absences
Tardiness and/or early departure will be translated into absent time. All time required for the make-up of absences must be scheduled with the approval of the Administrator. Absent time which is made up before a student’s scheduled graduation date is not chargeable. All absent time made up after a student’s scheduled graduation date must be paid for at the rate of $10.00 per hour and must be paid in advance. All overtime hours must be paid for in advance. Any absence in excess of 20% of the total number of instructional hours offered in the first half of the course, excluding an approved leave of absence, shall be cause for dismissal. The School only allows excused absences for bereavement of immediate family members, snow days, suspension, and jury duty. This will be determined on a case by case basis by the Director and/or Administrator.

On-time Graduation Rates / Placement Metrics / Median Loan Debt
Colleges, universities, and proprietary schools like MarJon School of Beauty, Ltd. are required to disclose On-Time Graduation Rates, Placement Metrics, and Median Loan Debt for each program offered for each award year.
The on-time graduation rate is calculated by dividing the number of on-time completers by the total number of graduates for the specific year. These on-time graduation rates are based on perfect attendance and do not account for holidays, school closings, leave of absence or minimum absent time. MarJon School of Beauty, Ltd. provides the number of graduates during an award year who completed their program within 150% of the normal program length. This metric is in line with reporting graduation rates to other federal reporting and accrediting agencies.
Federal regulations also require colleges, universities, and proprietary schools like MarJon School of Beauty, Ltd. to disclose placement rate information about the population of students counted as “on-time” completers. In addition to these rates, MarJon School of Beauty, Ltd., collects and reports placement (employment) rates annually to our accrediting agency, the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences (NACCAS).
Median loan debt is based on the number of students who completed their program in the specific financial aid award year, and has been calculated by comparing the total amounts that students borrowed for each loan type, starting with $0 up to the maximum amount borrowed.
• Program Graduation on Time Rate – 38.7%
• Program Graduation Rate within 150% time – 62.2%
• Placement Rate for On-Time completers – 0%
